Good morning family! It’s such a blessing and absolute honor to get the opportunity to speak with you this morning. Something very disturbing and distracts hit me today that I really think I need to share with you. DISTRACTION! Look in your mirror! Look in your mirror right now. If you have no mirror close your phone off and look into the screen. Now! Reflect! What do you see? Is Christ all you see or are you missing it here or there?
Matthew 6:33-34 - 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Are you seeking first the Kingdom of God?
Do you look into the mirror and see only Jesus?
Matthew 22:37-39 - 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment.39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
1 Corinthians 7:35 - 35 I am saying this for your benefit, not to place restrictions on you. I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few distractions as possible.
Hebrews 12:1-3 - 1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.[a] Because of the joy[b] awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. 3 Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people;[c] then you won’t become weary and give up.
We so need to look to Jesus. He came to disciple us. To teach us the discipline of faithfulness. Faithfulness is found in us when we combine our faith with sacrifice. Yes, sacrifice! I know this is where most of us lose it. This is where we struggle. No! Not always but enough that we get distracted. Enough we are knocked down a rung on the ladder. Enough we feel we are losing our way or we have to work our way back. No, no! These are lies and condemnations from the enemy. We are covered in His grace as we give it to Him. So “Let go and, Let God!”. We want to hang onto our failures and it distracts us from His fullness. Repent and it’s all God’s. Sounds self satisfying and selfish, huh? No, it’s as He has ask lay it at the foot of the cross and quit allowing life and things in it to distract you from the fulfillment of your call. God has a plan for you! So, get to it! Distractions are not ok! Rid yourself of allowing them to hinder your walk with Christ.
Father help us to not be distracted and to keep our eyes fully on you! I ask all in the holy precious beautiful gracious giving humble name above all names Christ Jesus, Amen!
